Watch for Disgruntled Employees
Ben Rothke has an insightful opinion piece in CSO on the need to keep your guard up during difficult economic times. As he points our, it's not just terminated employees that can be a problem.
In January of this year, a Florida woman reportedly saw a help-wanted ad in the newspaper for a position that looked like her current job, and even had her boss’s phone number listed. Assuming she was about to be terminated, she allegedly went to the architectural office where she worked and deleted seven years worth of drawings and blueprints, worth an estimated $2.5 million. (The job posting was in fact for the company of the boss’s wife.)
Another thing to keep in mind is that if you're budget is getting tighter, put more emphasis to end user awareness training. See this morning's post on Security Spending in All the Wrong Places for more.
