Malware Writer's Trying to Stay Ahead

A new report from Commtouch documents a combination of tactics malware writers are using to avoid detection, including large numbers of variation rapidly released and social engineering tactics.

Eweek reports in Commtouch: Malware Writers' Tactics Evolving that

By crafting a large number of distinct variants of a virus and releasing them in short bursts, malware writers are able to release new variants before a signature or heuristics can be created to protect against the virus.

Commtouch also reports the increased use timely email subjects tied to real news or making up bogus but shocking news.
