Report Finds Problematic User Attitudes About Security

VUNet.com comments on a Trend Micro report on corporate user attitudes on computer security finding:

About 40 per cent believed that their work computers are better protected than their home computers against spam, spyware and phishing, and are more likely to click on suspicious links or websites using their work computers.

Only 40%? Sounds a little low to me. Corporate networks I've seen are a lot more secure than most home PCs I've run into. I suspect there's a significant disconnect between how secure home PCs really are and how secure their owners think they are. That last part about clicking on suspicious links is a real concern.

Either these users think their corporate networks are secure enough to detect real threats (which doesn't jibe with 60% them thinking their home computers are more secure) or they don't care.

We spend a lot of time and effort on technical solutions, like IPS, content filtering, AV, etc. and it still looks like users and cavalier attitudes continue to be the weakest link.
