CSI Survey: Insiders Bigger Threat than Viruses
It's official: we are are own worst enemy, or at least some of the people that work with us. The newly released annual computer security survey from the Computer Security Institute finds insider abuse of network resources is the top threat. The problem there includes things like illegally copied software and pornography. Here are some of the other key findings:
1. The average loss per incident is over $350,000 up from $168,000 last year
2. 18% who suffered more than one attack suffered a targeted attack
3. Financial frauds now beats out viruses in terms of cost to businesses
4. 29% of those experiencing security incidents are reporting them to authorities, a slight increase from last years 25%.
There's more in the 30 page report, I'll update here later.
