5 Evaluation Criteria for Selecting a Data Loss Prevention Product

We've just added a new article to the Essentials Series: Messaging and Web Security Volume II on data loss protection products. The article provides guidance on selecting a DLP solution from among the growing number of options on the market. From the article:

Business are growingly concerned about preventing data loss. High profile cases, from major retailers and credit card industry companies to government agencies and academic institutions have suffered well publicized breaches at the hands of outside attackers. Insider threats are a potential source of costly data loss as well. The security market has responded to the need for monitoring and controlling the flow of information with an array of loss prevention (DLP) products. The range of options is good news for companies with DLP requirements but how should one choose a DLP solution?
There is certainly no single best solution for all companies but we can frame a set of features that customers should consider, in the context of their own requirements and constraints, when making a DLP purchasing decision.

Other articles in the Essential Series cover topics ranging from service oriented architecture and and database security to identity management and controlling unmanaged devices.
