Blogs Set Up to Push Malware
Ken Steinberg of Savant Protection has discovered attackers are using script generated blogs to push malware. Dark Reading reports the story of how malware pushers are shifting from just using posts to actually hosting entire blogs. The blogs are littered with keywords to drive traffic through search engines. Unsuspecting users can easily end up with malware pushed to their clients:
"One of the more common ways of inserting malware is using overflow techniques found in movie [viewers]... When you click through a few of these blogs, up pops images set to auto-load -- some are images, some are movies" that can infect a visitor with malware, he says.
Steinberg found the problem on Google Blogger; Google is investigating.
