Localized Malware

We've just posted a new article on localized malware. Researchers are finding more region and culture-specific malware; here's an excerpt:

Malware continues to evolve and not just in terms of technical sophistication. Recent research on malware trends has found significant effort on the part of malware developers and cybercriminals to adapt their malicious applications according to regional or cultural conditions. This article will examine several issues related to this trend: 1) motivations for localizing malware, 2) examples of localized malware, and 3) suggestions for controlling the impact of localized malware. Although localized malware, by definition, is highly varied, we have sufficient examples to make reasoned conjectures about further enhancements and specializations that emerge as part of this trend.
