Online Gaming Not So Secure

Online gaming used to be a way to relax and escape real world concerns for a little while. Forget it, some of those concerns, like theft, follow you online now. We've just posted an article in the Message and Web Security library on security issues in online gaming. The article examines four common security problems online gamers and network administrators must contend with:

• Monitoring and information sent to gaming servers
• Possibility of malware infection due to game updates and expansion packs
• Complexity of games requires client side computation (never trust the client)
• Online gaming assets have real value
