Can Google Work Collaboratively?

Google phones won't be showing up until late this year. The delay according to the Wall Street Journal is that wireless carriers and application developers are having trouble with keeping to schedules. Silicon Alley Insider notes that Google keeps tinkering with Android. Sounds a bit like Microsoft, hardware vendors and desktop app developers all over again.

Life is a lot easier when you control a Googleplex that takes data in and pushes it out in what ever form you want it to take. Make delivery schedules, promise an operating system, get hardware vendors ramped up and document APIs and all of sudden people take you seriously and put their own money in the project.

Android is Google's first substantial collaborative development and it looks like they are hitting growing pains. If we want to know how the next 6 to 12 months unfold we can just look back at the same time period before Vista was released.
