Evaluating Your Security Management Program: What to Look For

Information security is dynamic and demanding. Business operations change, new hardware and software is introduced, employees and business partners adopt new technologies, and new threats emerge as attackers devise new ways to compromise security measures. A comprehensive security management plan can help to manage risks and promote a more efficient use of resources. A plan developed 3 years ago is not likely to be as well aligned with current needs as it was when it was first developed. At the same time, fundamental principles of security management do not change, at least not very quickly. Together, these facts about security management dictate that security management programs should be evaluated regularly to ensure that they stay aligned with business objectives.
