Obama Looks for Talent in Securing Web Site
Political campaigns don't have a lot of time to get their Web security right and the Obama campaign is looking to avoid any more embarrassing or disruptive attacks on its site.
Here is part of the ad on the campaign's Web site:
Obama for America is looking for a network security expert who wants to play a key role in a historic political campaign and help elect Barack Obama as the next President of the United States. In this role, you will be responsible for:* Analyzing the network architecture for the My.BarackObama website
* Leading an overhaul of existing security systems and architecture, including policy, firewall, VPN, and networking equipment
* Developing a strategy for responding to hack attempts, DDoS attacks, and other potential threats
* Establishing and managing the security posture of the online campaign My.BarackObama
The Obama campaign was hacked earlier in the campaign in a way that led visitors to Senator Clinton's site, but they aren't the only one suffering from attacks. From PC World:
Obama's site isn't the only one to suffer from Web security bugs. A similar flaw popped up in Mitt Romney's site in January, and Hillary Clinton's name was used in a spam campaign that delivered messages laced with malicious Trojan Horse software programs,
IT's not surprising the Obama campaign is out front on security issues. They have demonstrated an unparalleled ability to leverage the Web so they are no doubt well aware of the risks as well as the benefits of the Web.
