Who's Afraid of Virginia's Smartphone?
Looks like almost all of the senior IT staff in a recent survey are more concerned about executives and their lax smartphone security practices than about laptops. The fact that half of the executives can't be troubled to use a password justifies the concern but it doesn't end there.
According to the survey conducted by Credant Technologies and summarized in Computerworld it isn't just the executives who are lax, IT holds some of the blame:
Nine in 10 of the smart phones were being given access to company networks without extra security, even though the phones were individually owned by users. There were no access restrictions being applied to 81% of the phones.
