McAfee Extends Data Loss Prevention Offerings
McAfee is acquiring data loss prevention vendor Reconnex, adding the data and text mining technology of Data Loss Profiler to its policy management and encryption offerings.
Reconnex's technology takes a bottom-up, analyze all traffic approach to the problem of defining protected content. From the McAfee press release:
Reconnex has solved the current problems with DLP through innovative learning technology that indexes, classifies, and understands the context of all content within or as it leaves an organization. Reconnex's "knowledge mining" capability helps businesses tackle the fear of the unknown.
The next step is to integrate the findings of the Reconnex data and text mining services with ePolicy Orchestrator to improve the development and maintenance of policies.
