Conflicting Reports on Cyberattacks at World Bank

A Fox News report alleges the World Bank servers containing sensitive information at the global financial organization have been breached over the past year. A spokesman for the World Bank says that is incorrect.

According to the Fox News story, there have been at least six major breaches. The SANS Internet Storm Center quotes a World Bank spokesman who says, in part:

"Like other public and private institutions, the World Bank has repeatedly experienced hacking attacks on its computer systems and is constantly updating its security to defeat these. But at no point has a hacking attack accessed sensitive information in the World Bank's Treasury, procurement, anti-corruption or human resources departments."
