DDoS Attack Against Political Reporting Site

The polling and statistics site FiveThirtyEight.com is reporting an independent film maker/political reporter's site has been shut down by a distributed denial of service attack.

I hadn't heard of the site, BrettMarty.com, before hearing this news. FiveThirtyEight seems like an unbiased, just the numbers kind of site that's a good source of polling information.

The following message was posted after a short piece covering one Republican and one Democratic rally in Ohio.

So, Brett's site suffered a DDOS attack, and is now offline, with BlueHost refusing to ever host Brett again. We're re-configuring, so bear with us.

The description of the web site from FiveThirtyEigth.com is, in part:

Brett Marty once drove his old Buick from California to Ushuaia, Argentina. That's kind of badass. He has a documentary film that might get into Sundance this winter. And he's been capturing some amazing images as we traverse the country chronicling the Obama and McCain ground games in battleground states for FiveThirtyEight's On the Road series.

Today his site - www.brettmarty.com - went live, and we're proud to draw your attention to it. You've undoubtedly seen his work over the past three weeks, and I've watched as he labors over getting just the right shot. He's a real professional.

Trying to view http://www.brettmarty.com at the time of writing finds this message:

When/If you call our support help line, please have your site name ready.

If you have any more news on this, please post in a comment. There doesn't seem to be much news available on this story yet.
