Desktop Linux Desktop Not Total Replacement for Windows

I agree with a lot of what Ed Bott says about the limits of Linux as a desktop replacement but I think the forces that keep us on Windows are breaking down.

I split my time between Vista and Linux. Vista is great for using Visio and when I have to use Word (for advanced functions required with large writing projects) but I'm just as functional with Web apps on Linux. As solid Web based alternatives to desktop apps arrive, there will be less gravitational pull keeping us in the Windows orbit.

Zoho may be the best thing that has happened to promote desktop Linux.
