Growing Response to Botnets
Driven by the lure of cybercrime profits, botnets keep getting more resilient and sophisticated. So do the measures to keep them in check.
The New York Times reports on coordinated efforts to disrupt botnet operations. There is the International Botnet Taskforce convening this week in Virginia to coordinate efforts and the Botnet Monitoring and Analysis Tool run by Microsoft and vaguely described in the article. With unprotected computers lasting 30 seconds on the Internet before they are compromised, they have their work cut out for them.
