Get Ready to Manage Smartphone Security on Large Scale

The mobile device is dead, long live the mobile device. The reign of the laptop as a corporate mainstay may be starting a downward decline as the use of smartphones rises.

A survey by J. Gold Associates and reported in ComputerWorld finds:

The use of business applications on smartphones is also projected to grow, by 71% over one year and 196% over three years.

I've spent years hauling two laptops on consulting engagements, one corporate and one personal. I don't expect to have two phones, so are employees going to use corporate phones for personal use or are employee-owned phones going to be used for business? Get ready for semi-managing devices that blur the distinction between corporate and personal assets.
